Mental Health Awareness: What You Let In Matters

October 1, 2026

Mental health isn’t one thing. It’s the balance of mind, body, and soul. When one feels off, everything can feel off. This month, we’re focusing on simple ways to support that balance through awareness, access, and something we call soulful inputs.

What Are Soulful Inputs?

Soulful inputs are the ones that support you—mentally, emotionally, and even physically. They show up in your everyday life: what you watch, what you listen to, who you spend time with, what you scroll, and the details in your surrounding environment. Simply put, they’re the little things that make you feel good and are often easy to overlook.

At VERVE Ann Arbor, we believe your environment matters. The spaces you move through every day have the power to influence your mood, mindset, and energy. That’s why our community is designed with intention. The art on the walls, the light through the windows, the spaces where conversations happen. All of it contributes to the pulse of this place and the experience of living here. Look up. Look around. Take it in. Throughout VERVE, there are soulful inputs designed to bring a bit more joy, inspo, and ease.

VERVE Community Wall

This month, we created space in Ann Arbor for residents to share their favorite soulful inputs through a simple, collective moment: the Community Wall at VERVE where residents contributed anonymous, handwritten notes. Residents put real pen to real paper, leaving handwritten notes to and from each other, displayed as a Post-It Note art installation to reinforce the sense of their immediate community that they’re part of at VERVE Ann Arbor.

Mental health becomes more powerful when it’s shared. No pressure. No overthinking. Just real thoughts and moments made visible to and from our community members. Head to our socials @verveannarbor to see this in action.

Resources That Support You

Beyond our Wellness Series, there are resources built specifically to support mental health. One we’re highlighting this month is the Hi, How Are You Project, an organization focused on starting honest conversations about mental wellbeing and making support feel more approachable. Through its Peer-to-Peer program, students can access free, confidential support from trained peers who understand the challenges of college life and can help connect them with additional resources when needed.

The Wellness Series is a monthly program at VERVE Ann Arbor, brought to you by Subtext.
