February is often dubbed the month of love. But, if romance isn’t your thing, there’s still plenty to enjoy. Whether you’re planning for a special Valentine’s Day celebration, looking for the perfect gifts, or in need of a spooky movie marathon at State Street Theater, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a guide to help you navigate Ann Arbor during the month of love—and Anti-love.
Flowers, Flowers, Flowers!
University Flower Shop- Founded in 1931, this flower design studio and shop aims to provide the Wolverine community with sustainably grown local flowers. It’s located in Nickels Arcade by Umich – which feels like you’ve stepped into a shopping alley somewhere in Europe. Grab your better half and get some cute pictures at Nickels Arcade while you pick out flowers for your apartment.
Lily’s Garden- This flower has been in Ann Arbor for over 35 years. Lily retired and passed on the flower shop to a former employee. It’s located in the historic Kerrytown district of Ann Arbor. Remember to roam around this neighborhood when you come to visit Lily- you’re truly in for a treat. Words aren’t enough to describe the coziness in this shop.
Trader Joe’s- Everyone’s beloved boutique grocery store. The Trader Joe’s on Stadium Boulevard is just a couple minutes drive from University of Michigan, and is the perfect place to get budget friendly flowers to make a bouquet. You can also grab some finger foods so you can snack while you put your bouquet together! They have a wide variety of flowers, so you have many options to choose from!
Eat, Eat, Eat
Chop House Ann Arbor- Chophouse is an upscale restaurant for your valentine date in Ann Arbor. It’s the perfect place to dress up for a special occasion with your partner. After dinner, be sure to check out Blank State creamery for Ann Arbor’s best ice-cream. This restaurant is truly a treat.
Sava’s- The office staff loves to eat here whenever we have a celebration in the office. Located in the center of Umich’s campus, the ambiance of the restaurant makes you feel like you’re eating brunch in Spain on a sunny day. Fun fact- both of the managers at VERVE Ann Arbor had their first lunch together here, so it’s a special one for sure.
Mama Satto & Totoro- These two beloved sushi hot-spots are conveniently located by the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Check out some free art, and then head over here for the best sushi Ann Arbor has to offer. You’ll find lots of students, and young adults here.
